Privacy Policy
What we collect, why we collect it, and how to have it removed.
The short version: this website sets no cookies, runs no analytics, and shows you no advertising. We store your email address and license details so the software can be licensed to you, and nothing else. We do not sell anything to anybody.
For the software on your computer — what it transmits, the error report, and the two upload options in the File menu — see the Application Privacy Policy.
Effective date: August 25, 2026

1. What the website collects
biggsky.com sets no cookies. It stores nothing in your browser, runs no analytics, and carries no advertising or tracking pixels. There is no consent banner because there is nothing to consent to.
Our web host (GoDaddy) keeps standard server logs, which record IP addresses, timestamps, requested pages and browser user-agent strings. These are generated by the hosting platform for security and diagnostics, are retained on the host's schedule, and are not analyzed by us or connected to any customer record.
Some pages embed content from third parties, which load in your browser and can therefore see your IP address:
- YouTube — videos on the home page and Learn page. These use
youtube-nocookie.com, YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode, which does not set tracking cookies unless you play the video. - Google Docs — the manuals on the Manual page are published Google Documents displayed in a frame.
- Stripe — the pricing table on the Pricing page is a Stripe component.
Links to Dropbox (downloads), Facebook, Reddit, AstroBin, Instagram and YouTube take you to those services, which have their own privacy policies. We receive nothing back from them about you.
2. Your images never come near this website
There is nothing on biggsky.com that takes an image from you, and no upload form anywhere on it. BiggSky processes your work on your own computer.
The application can send us an error report or a file you choose from its File menu, and those are described in full in the Application Privacy Policy. They do not pass through this website.
3. When you request a trial or buy a license
To issue and check a license, our license server keeps one record per license. You provide the first group below; the application adds the second when it activates.
| What | Why |
|---|---|
| Name and email address | Your license key is derived from your email address and must match it at every validation. Your key is emailed to this address. |
| Organization (optional) | Left blank if you leave it blank. |
| How you heard about BiggSky (optional) | Tells us which of our efforts are worth continuing. |
| Edition and license type | Determines which features unlock. |
| Operating system | Support and compatibility. |
| Three machine identifiers (from the application) | Enforces the limit on simultaneous computers. Described in the Application Privacy Policy. |
| Start, expiry, activation and last-validated dates | Enforces the license period. |
There is no account and no password, so there is nothing to breach and nothing for you to remember. Your license is your email address and a 16-character key.
4. Payment
We never see your card details. Checkout is hosted by Stripe on Stripe's own systems. Card numbers are not transmitted to, processed by or stored on biggsky.com or our license server.
Stripe tells us that a purchase happened, along with the email address used and which edition was bought, so that a license key can be issued. Stripe acts as an independent controller of the payment data it holds; see stripe.com/privacy.
5. Email
We send you email for two reasons.
Transactional — your license key, seat-change notices, and replies to support requests. These are part of the service and are sent to everyone who holds a license. They are not marketing and there is no opting out of them while a license is active.
Announcements — new releases and occasional offers. Requesting a trial or buying a license puts your address on this list, because you have asked us for the software and release news is part of supporting it. You can also join without taking a trial at biggsky.com/activate/subscribe.html, which asks you to confirm the address by email before anything is sent to it.
Every announcement carries an unsubscribe link, and you can leave at any time at biggsky.com/activate/unsubscribe.html. Unsubscribing takes effect immediately and permanently, and does not stop your license key emails, which you need. We record when and how each address joined so we can show where consent came from.
We do not sell, rent, trade or share your email address with anyone for their own marketing.
6. Where it is kept, and for how long
License records are held in Google Workspace infrastructure (Google Sheets and Google Apps Script) under our account, protected by the account's authentication. Announcement email is sent through a third-party email service that holds only the addresses subscribed to it.
We keep license records for as long as the license exists, plus a reasonable period afterward for support, warranty and accounting purposes. Records connected to a purchase are kept for as long as tax law requires. Trial records for trials that were never converted are kept so that the one-trial-per-person rule can be applied.
Files you send us from inside the application are covered in full by the Application Privacy Policy, section 6. In short: error reports and logs are deleted after one year; images you upload may be kept longer as test data, separated from your email address and never published without asking you; and anything you have sent us is deleted on request, whenever you ask.
7. Your rights
Wherever you live, you may ask us to:
- tell you what we hold about you,
- correct anything that is wrong,
- send you a copy,
- delete it.
Email support@biggsky.com from the address on the license and we will act within 30 days. There is no charge, and asking will not affect the service you receive.
One consequence worth stating plainly: deleting your license record cancels your license. The record is what makes the software work. We cannot delete it and leave you licensed, so we will confirm that you understand this before acting on a deletion request for an active license.
If you are in the UK or the European Economic Area
The UK GDPR and EU GDPR apply to you. Our lawful bases are performance of a contract for everything needed to issue and enforce your license, and legitimate interests for security logging and for announcements to existing customers. In addition to the rights above you may object to processing, request restriction, request portability, and complain to your national supervisory authority — in the UK, the Information Commissioner's Office.
Your data is processed in the United States. We are a US company; by purchasing or requesting a trial you are asking us to provide a service that necessarily involves transferring your details to us.
If you are in California
You may request the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected about you, and request deletion, using the address above. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined by California law, and we have never done so. We do not offer financial incentives in exchange for personal information, and we will not discriminate against you for exercising any right.
8. Children
BiggSky is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has given us their details, write to us and we will remove them.
9. Changes
If this policy changes materially we will update the effective date at the top and note the change in the release notes. We will not apply a materially different policy to information already collected without telling you.
10. Contact
Questions, requests and complaints all go to the same place: support@biggsky.com. A real person reads it.
