Getting it running
The first launch takes a while on every platform — the MATLAB Runtime unpacks and configures itself. Let it finish.
Windows
- Download and extract the ZIP file.
- Run the installer inside it.
- Launch BiggSky. The first start is slow while the runtime configures — this is normal and happens once.
macOS
- Download and extract the ZIP file.
- Ctrl-click the
.appfile and choose Open, then confirm — this overrides the Gatekeeper warning. Double-clicking will not work the first time. - Be patient on first launch while the runtime files configure.
Linux
- Install the MATLAB Runtime first — it is a separate 4.5 GB download.
- Unpack and run the installer:
sudo gunzip -X -K BiggSkyAppInstaller_web_LinuxIntel_beta_v0_6_0.install.gz sudo ./BiggSkyAppInstaller_web_LinuxIntel_beta_v0_6_0.install
- Adjust the filename to match the version you downloaded.
How the trial works
The trial is the full application for 30 days. Nothing is disabled, nothing is watermarked, and no payment details are taken to start it.
Request a key at biggsky.com/activate, or press Get Demo License on the License tab inside BiggSky. Paste the key in, press Validate, and you are running. There is no account and no password.
The 30 days begin when you validate the key, not when you request it — so requesting one early costs you nothing.
When the trial ends BiggSky switches to Free mode: everything you have already processed still opens, views and exports. Your work is never locked away.
System requirements
- Windows 10 or 11 (64-bit), macOS, or 64-bit Linux
- 8 GB RAM minimum; 16 GB or more is much better for large SER files
- No MATLAB licence required — the runtime is included
- Optional: a recent NVIDIA GPU on Windows for a substantial speed-up
- Disk space for the MATLAB Runtime (several GB)
